Refugees excluded from COVID-19 vaccine rollout: World Vision report

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Hunger is becoming a major concern for refugees, with 77 per cent unable to meet food needs during the global pandemic, a snapshot by World Vision has found. A new report by the international aid agency also warns that refugees and internally displaced people - who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19 - are the lowest priority group for vaccinations. They have been kept there and in Melbourne for a total of almost 1000 days while their parents challenge attempts to deport them to Sri Lanka. World Vision Australia CEO Daniel Wordsworth said it was grossly unfair for the children to be denied a normal childhood.
