Dear sponsor,
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your continued support for your sponsored child in Subansiri. As we all face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to send you a few words.
Here in Subansiri we are thankful not to have seen a large outbreak of COVID-19 cases, though bordering states have recorded increasing numbers of cases. Adding to the increased risk facing vulnerable children, there are no healthcare facilities or hospitals close to many of the villages where our families live. Schools were shut down completely after the national lockdown began. Shops and public transportation as well as some markets were also closed, making it difficult for families to access essential items and earn an income from selling fruits and vegetables.
We are quickly adapting and using new communication methods so that our work to care for children can continue. We are still in regular contact with families and community members to check in on children’s wellbeing by telephone. We are also educating families about good hygiene practices and distributing personal protective equipment to help stop the spread of the virus. We are also partnering with the local government to provide personal protective equipment kits to support children and the community.
This is a difficult season for everyone and as we pray for our community we are also praying for peace and safety for you, your family and your friends. We believe we will continue to see positive change as we face this pandemic together. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to your sponsored child. With your kind partnership, we will continue to care for and protect children here in Subansiri.
Peace be with you,
David Dutta
