World Vision Statement on Response to Cyclone Gita in Tonga
Monday, February 12, 2018
Monday 12 February 2018
World Vision is currently monitoring the impact of Cyclone Gita in Tonga and stands ready to support the emergency response of the Government of Tonga and other humanitarian agencies working there, if necessary. While World Vision does not currently have programs operating in Tonga, the organisation is committed to providing timely support to response teams on the ground when required.
World Vision’s Australian, New Zealand and PTL (Pacific Timor-Leste) teams will meet the morning of Tuesday 14 February (NZST) to assess the effect of the cyclone and develop an appropriate approach.
Please contact World Vision media advisors Gabriel Thomas or Olivia Boswell for further updates as and when they are available from World Vision New Zealand, and Brianna Piazza for any updates from World Vision Australia.
