World Vision condemns ‘cowardly’ attack on Kabul airport

August 27, 2021 – World Vision Australia is horrified by the bombings of innocent people outside Kabul airport overnight which have reportedly cost dozens of lives and injured hundreds.

We condemn any attack of this kind, but one which has targeted vulnerable people, including families with children, is a particularly cowardly act.

We call on all parties to immediately make the peace, safety and security of children and their families Afghanistan’s number-one priority. This is especially important at this time when violence could spiral out of control.

The last thing Afghanistan needs is to descend into violence. This country has suffered decades of conflict and instability which have only resulted in huge loss of life, lack of development and the undermining of people’s freedoms and rights.
