We are mindful of the fact that many people will be concerned about the recent news of changes to the recruitment policy of World Vision United States.
World Vision Australia’s employment policies are different from that of our colleagues in the US. We hire on merit and do not discriminate on the basis of gender or sexual orientation. This is consistent with Australian law.
We are listening to and welcome your feedback. We commit to representing the voices and views of Australian supporters to our global partners in World Vision including World Vision US. We view this as one of our key responsibilities as a member of the World Vision partnership.
Internationally, World Vision is a federated organisation, each country has its own separate board or advisory group and constitution. Each World Vision office works within its own country’s political and cultural context.
We are a Christian organisation but we are not a church. As a humanitarian organisation we have a singular focus: improving the lives of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable children. We value all people equally irrespective of race, religion, sexuality, gender or ethnicity. Our staff support our work, mission and our values.
We hope our supporters will not be deterred from continuing to support World Vision Australia in our core work in reducing poverty around the world.
