Statement from World Vision Australia Board Chair Shannon Adams

World Vision Australia Board Chair Shannon Adams has today announced that after three and a half years of outstanding service, Chief Executive Claire Rogers has tendered her resignation to spend more time with her family before starting the next chapter of her career.

Ms Rogers has been an influential contributor to both World Vision and to the NGO sector in Australia, and the Board is thankful for her resolute focus on building good foundations for the future.

“Claire has made a significant contribution to support vulnerable children throughout the world in our humanitarian work, including in the advocacy campaign, Kids Off Nauru, innovations such as 1000 Girls, and in leading an organisation-wide digital transformation,” Mr Adams said.

“Claire leaves World Vision Australia in a very strong position for future growth, and the Board sincerely thanks her for her contribution and leadership during her tenure as CEO.

Ms Rogers said she had come to her decision with a heavy heart and only after lengthy reflection.

“I cannot tell you what a difficult decision this has been, especially as I have such incredible respect for all World Vision employees and their work,” Ms Rogers said. “I have been impressed by all their commitment to our mission to protect and uplift the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.

“It has been a great honour and a privilege to serve the world’s most vulnerable children through World Vision, whose critical mission and purpose brings sustained transformational development all over the world.

“This is a legacy I have been pleased to have been part of for more than three years. As part of Australia’s contribution, I am proud to have been able to bring urgency on important humanitarian issues and renewed our capability and pace of response.”

Mr Adams wished Ms Rogers a very successful future and remained indebted to her for her service as CEO and leadership of our valued World Vision Australia team.

Ms Rogers has kindly agreed to support Acting CEO, Graham Strong, for a smooth transition ahead of the recruitment of a new CEO in the coming months.
