World Vision appoints new Head of Media and Corporate Communications

June 28, 2022 – Former journalist and corporate communications leader Andrew Hewett has been named as World Vision’s new Head of Media and Corporate Communications.

Andrew comes to World Vision with more than two decades experience in the sector. Following 10 years as a broadcast journalist with high-profile Australian media outlets, Andrew has racked up a 12-year career in leading communications roles with global and domestic brands as renowned as Coca-Cola Amatil, Kraft and plumbing giant Reece Group.

Andrew said he was drawn to World Vision because of its vital mission and world-renowned purpose of empowering vulnerable children, families and communities to overcome poverty.

“My family is passionate about supporting the community and those less fortunate, which is one of the reasons that I couldn’t be happier to be joining the team at World Vision,” Andrew said.

“It is clear the team has an aligned vision and purpose with plenty of rich and interesting stories to tell. I look forward to playing my part in raising awareness for the great work that is being done, locally and globally, to support and empower the vulnerable.

“Daniel [Wordsworth] and the team also have a strong commitment to the environment, climate change and First Australians which should rightly be a focus for us all. I feel blessed and highly motivated by this opportunity and can’t wait to get stuck in."

World Vision’s Interim Chief of Communications Elisa Iurato said: “Andrew brings a wealth of strategic thinking, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement, leadership, communications and media training, in senior roles with globally respected brands.

“I’m really looking forward to Andrew joining the team as we continue to evolve the function and enhance the way we communicate the great work that is being done by our dedicated people around the world.”

Andrew will begin with World Vision on July 1.
