What we're doing
Building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities so that they can drive their own development.
Our goal
To create life in all its fullness for Australian Indigenous children.
Each community has unique needs and priorities and requires tailored solutions. In each case, it’s critical that local people drive the change they want to see.
In Australia, we support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to lead their own development and build on their strengths. We do this at the national level by engaging with governments, and at a local level by partnering with communities.
Our partnerships begin when Indigenous Australian communities invite us to work together and to share our development expertise.

In collaboration with the Western Australian Government we deliver an Aboriginal early years’ service in Derby. The Bubanil playgroup provides a welcoming place for parents to spend time with their children and engage in education and learning activities which support their child’s transition to school.
World Vision works closely with three remote communities along the Gibb River Road in the Kimberley. In its infancy stages, the project is working with communities to design and plan early childhood and youth development projects following the identification of local needs and priorities. View video

Supporting Indigenous communities to grow strong leaders, we deliver leadership projects in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland.
Aboriginal organisation Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ) and World Vision have partnered to develop a leadership program which equips participants for effective engagement in both Martu communities and mainstream society. The program aims to support Martu to build prosperous and community-driven futures for themselves and their communities.

Channels of Hope is a faith-based development program run in two communities in Central Australia and Brisbane. It provides faith leaders with the tools to address gender inequality in their teachings and to lead their congregations and communities to find local solutions to gender-based violence.
Reconciliation is essential to the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We are committed to our own journey of reconciliation and invite others to join us and the communities we partner with.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan 2016-2018 signals World Vision’s continued public commitment to the reconciliation process.
