The Faith Effect is a five-part interactive bible study series tackling global poverty and injustice. It is designed to facilitate Christian social engagement. The DVD and leader’s guide (RRP $29.95) and participant guides (RRP $4.95 each) are available for purchase at Koorong stores nationally or online.
A series of education resources have been created to work in conjunction with The Faith Effect DVD:
On earth as in heaven? In this resource, students examine Matthew 6:9-14, Luke 19:1-9, and Revelation 21:1-4. They consider what the Lord’s Prayer might mean for people living in poverty, and in what ways the followers of Jesus are meant to be part of the answer to that prayer.
Religion poisons everything? Reflecting on the DVD, 2 Corinthians 8:1-9, and a cartoon on social justice, students consider what can motivate Christians to work for social justice and live life in all its fullness.
God’s love in the world? Students reflect on a quote from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and a series of Bible passages. They then discuss the ways God has called his people to care for the needs of the poor, and what might encourage, or discourage, people from taking action.
So what now? In the DVD, students hear about different ways Australian Christians and churches are responding to global poverty. With Ephesians 2:1-10 in mind, students examine specific actions they could take, as individuals or as a class.
