Students read about a day in the life of 9-year-old Kajal, and 14-year-old Sudarmathi, from India. Both girls have had to work in order to support their families, although Sudarmathi is now back in school. Students are asked to identify the similarities and differences in the girls’ lives. A short film clip about Kajal, and her life, is also available for students to view.
