Melbourne Gospel Choir is Australia's most sought-after gospel group for television appearances and for performing backing vocals for international artists. They regularly appear on shows and at events such as Carols by Candlelight, the AFL Grand Final, Dancing with the Stars, The Logies, It Takes Two, Starstruck and the Good Friday Appeal. They have also performed on Hey Hey It's Saturday and on In Melbourne Tonight.
Choir director and lead singer Judd Field has visited World Vision's work in India, which profoundly impacted his life. After his return, Judd wrote the songs for the choir’s third album, Freedom, based on his experiences in India. The choir has used songs from Freedom at live performances and in the media to advocate against child slavery and promote child sponsorship.
World Vision Australia works globally with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Our work in long-term community development, policy advocacy and change, and emergency relief addresses not only the symptoms of poverty, but also its complex and interrelated causes.
Melbourne Gospel Choir is a passionate advocate for our child sponsorship program and sponsor a child in India. Choir leader, Judd Field has seen firsthand how sponsorship has enabled once-struggling communities to generate more income and provide quality education, clean water, nutritious food and healthcare for their children.
World Vision Goodwill Ambassadors Melbourne Gospel Choir were so inspired by our 2017 Christmas gifts catalogue they decided to write and record a song about it.
