Seeds, Tools and Training
Once again, World Vision supporters have responded generously to help hungry families. In 2007, over 69,000 people in Malawi and other countries in need benefited through the provision of seeds, tools and agricultural training.
For eight out of 10 people in Malawi, farming is the only source of food and income. Funds raised are assisting vulnerable families to increase food production and improve their children’s health and nutrition.
Farmers have received seeds to grow fruit, vegetables and improved grain varieties that are rich in essential vitamins and resistant to drought.
The funds are also used for:
- Teach mothers how to prepare nutritious meals for their children
- Supply families with solar food dryers and train them how to preserve fruit and vegetables
- Help establish small-scale dairy farming
- Increase access to clean water sources
- Provide families with the knowledge and means to treat diarrhoea
This appeal helps families to provide nutrient-rich food for their children not just today, but in the years to come.
